hahahah, we're total nerds. :)

this reminds me, my uncle used to work for sun microsystems, and i remember him showing me in the late '90s his java ring that could be used to get his favorite coffee from a robot dispenser in his office (link, and link).

I had a couple of friends with those rings (I think they gave them out at a conference one year). I was jealous.

Speaking of nerdy, I just taught the binary system to a 10-year old girl I'm tutoring. (Her parents want her to get into the gifted program this school year, so it seemed like a good topic.) I got stuck trying to explain AND and OR using sentences, so I think next I'll try to explain it by drawing simple pictures of computer circuits. Then it's back to fractions.

When we first started a couple of weeks ago, she asked if it was possible to read minds, and wanted to know what hypnosis was. So I showed her:
