The good news:

I landed a sweet translating job doing internal communications for an international company!

The bad news:

I have to find an apartment, scrounge up $2000 for a nonrefundable deposit, and be moved out of my current place, all in the next 30 days!

My school holds the lease on the apartment, so... I can't say I'm sorry to leave my little coffin of an apartment, but I'll really have to scramble to find a new place. I may have to stay at a monthly joint while I look, but I guess that's okay. (The problem is packing up three years' woth of stuff in 30 days!)

Congrats! I hope you'll be blessed with TWO burners on your stove this time! Oh, that and, well, more room. A definite おつかれ for living in that apartment for what, three years now?

(LJ and my computer were freaking out at the same time, sorry for all the comment emails that you have inevitably read)

Haha, thanks. I wish I could've been able to see the future so I would've known I'd have a job in Japan and moved out of this joint sooner, but hey, it was cheap.

Wow! Great news!!! Congratulations!!! I think the good news outweighs the bad on that one, although the $2000 part is ick. Where are you moving? Does the new job come with the new apartment? Can't wait to hear all the details!

If you don't want to say where you're moving on LJ, of course, I completely understand. Anyway, still in Kobe, right?

The job's in Osaka, but I'd really like to stay living in Kobe. The JR line between Umeda and Sannomiya is just so convenient.

I'll tell you more when I see ya!

Hahaha, no, it's in Osaka. Why do you want to know someone in RIC? I like the international feel when I go there, but the way everything is absolutely covered in concrete would really get to me if I lived there.

congrats!

Are you still staying in the Kansai area?

And how did you land the sweet job?

I am totally staying in Kansai! As for the job, I replied to an ad, went through a bunch of interviews and translation tests, and somehow they chose me! It worked out unnervingly perfectly - I expected to have to be jobsearching for a lot longer.

Awww, I'm flattered she still remembers me. I wonder if I'll become one of those mysterious "adult friends of my mom's" to her, the ones whose names you know but you have no idea what they look like and are baffled when they remark on how much you've grown up. XD

As for housewarming presents... OMG, please don't send me anything until I've moved in!

Congratulations on finding the new job, fellow JET...er, former JET! *rode in from [livejournal.com profile] expats* I've been curious in translation work, though I don't know enough Japanese yet.

If you're looking for a place in Osaka and don't mind roommates, a friend of mine (also a former JET) is looking for someone to split the rent. She will be leaving by August, so the apartment would go to you w/out paying key money.

Hi! Thanks for the offer, I may contact you about it if the apartment I've applied to doesn't come through (I've already had one cancel on me already...)

Congratulations on the elementary school position! How long do you think you'll be staying in Japan?

No problem--I know it`s kinda random. ^_^; She is still looking for roommates, I can give you her contact info if you`d like.

Thank you! The first hurdle (the Japanese essay) has been finished. Next--the Japanese interview! @_@; I will be staying in Japan another year.
